Greetings from the MSc course director

As MSc Course Director of the Interdepartmental Program of Postgraduate Studies (IPPS) entitled “Pedagogy through Innovative Technologies and Biomedical Approaches”, University of West Attica, it is my privilege to welcome you to IPPS and its electronic sites.

IPPS emerged after fruitful collaboration between the UNIWA Departments of “Biomedical Sciences” and “Education and Care in Early Childhood” of the School of Health Sciences and the School of Administrative, Economic and Social Sciences and the Pedagogical of School of Pedagogical and Technological Education. IPPS characterized by interdisciplinarity and approaching Pedagogy holistically, while utilizing both New Technologies and approaches from the field of Biomedical Sciences (covering issues of Neurobiology, Genetics, etc.), it becomes a pioneer in its postgraduate programs. It came to meet the need of a large number of graduates, not only of our Departments but also of the whole of our University who want to engage in their professional life with education, regardless of the orientation and the knowledge, skills and specialties that they have acquired from their first cycle of Studies at the Institution during their undergraduate Studies. However, IPPS targets not only to general education professionals, public and private, as well as any graduate, employed or not, who wish to be involved in the education or the upbringing and care of preschool children. The goal in each case is to enhance professional qualifications through the acquisition of new knowledge in Pedagogical Science with an approach through innovative theories, technologies and Biomedical Approaches. The existence of three directions, the possibility of choosing courses, the internship and the elaboration of a diploma thesis in the last semester enhance the specialization and greatly increase the competitiveness and professional ability of our graduates. The structure of Curriculum was done in the same context and based on the possibility of obtaining Pedagogical Competence which was given with Government Gazette 3784/τ.Β ‘/14-10-2019. IPPS also provides its graduates with competence of computer skills, recognizable by ASEP. The Academic Staff are faculty members not only of the three Departments but also faculty members of other HEIs, Researchers, Education Directors or School Counselors are all renowned scientists with respective qualifications, in the fields who treat and excellent teachers and educators.

The postgraduate students of our Program receive all the benefits and facilities offered to our undergraduate students in their education by UNIWA. Specifically, the University of West Attica has all the necessary support infrastructure for the proper service of students, such as electronic secretarial processing of requests, shared Wi-Fi network, library, medical office, gym, restaurants and canteens, buildings counseling and care, employment and career, innovation and entrepreneurship, liaison office, as well as internship and lifelong learning structures. The existing material and technical infrastructure of the University of West Attica covers the operational needs of the IPPC (buildings, laboratories, amphitheaters,
In addition, the studies in the specialization of Inclusive Education of the IPPC have established relevance with the subject of Special Education and Training by the Ministry of Education, Research and Religions Government Gazette 1812/τ.Β’/29-04-2021.

Finally, IPPS is part of the ongoing evaluation procedures based on the plan prepared by National Higher Education Authority and Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP) of UNIWA. The evaluation includes indicators that highlight the competitiveness of the IPPS, in terms of its preference by prospective students and its image in the labor market.
