Lecturer
Ioannis Gkiastas is a graduate of the Psychology Department of René Descartes-Paris V University with a specialization in Clinical Psychology and he holds a PhD in the Counseling Sector of the Educational Sciences Department of the University of Patras. Since 1996 he has been working privately as a psychologist-psychotherapist and since 2007 as a psychoanalyst. In 2020 he became a member of the Teaching & Research Staff of the School of Pedagogical and Technological Education (ASPAITE) specializing in Counseling Psychology and Group Psychology.
He has taught Psychology and Counseling in postgraduate educational programs of ASPAITE (1997- 2004), undergraduate courses in Clinical Psychology and Psychometrics at the CFES d’Athènes- Université de Rouen (2003-2005) as well as in the postgraduate Thematic Unit: ‘Adults’ Education’ in the Hellenic Open University (2004-2009).
He is an active member of two Psychoanalytic Societies. Up to 2008 his research and publications focused on education, the personal and professional development of the teacher and the Psychology of Groups and Institutions in the educational field. Since then, his writing interests have focused mainly on the dialogue between Psychoanalysis and the Social Link as well as on the clinical implications of central psychoanalytical concepts and considerations. He has Peer-reviewed publications in International and Greek Conference Papers and Journals as well as a chapter in a Peer-reviewed Book and a monograph.
