Scientific Staff
Artemis Papailia is a graduate of the Department of Education Sciences in Early Childhood (Democritus University of Thrace – DUTH) and holds a postgraduate and doctoral specialization degree in Children’s Literature. She has received a scholarship for her research work, specifically for conducting her doctoral research, which concerned wordless books, a modern literary genre with minimal or no verbal text, where the image is the main narrative medium for constructing the meaning of the story, from the State Scholarships Foundation. She also worked as a Preschool Teacher from 2020-2022.
Today, she teaches as an adjunct lecturer in the Department of Education Sciences in Early Childhood at the Democritus University of Thrace the undergraduate courses: Introduction to Children’s Literature, Modern Greek Children’s Literature, Illustrated Children’s Books and Their Readings, and in the Department of Primary Education respectively the History of Modern Greek Literature and Introduction to Children’s Literature, and is a postdoctoral researcher. Moreover, she is a member of the “Open Book” Project and is the coordinator of the Children’s & Adolescent Literature Reading Club at the Democritus University of Thrace. Finally, her monograph is under publication.
Her articles have been published in reputable journals/volumes, she has participated in conferences and lectures both in Greece and abroad. Her scientific concerns relate to theoretical issues of Children’s Literature, the ideology in the children’s book, and specifically to issues concerning pictorial narratives and the teaching of Literature in Preschool Education.
