The Filesender service is a web based service that allows UNIWA users easily send large files to other users. To use the service, the minimum required is the existence of a browser and the login details (username / password) of the user’s institutional account.
It is also possible for external users of the institution to make relevant use of the service, through the Voucher mechanism.
The general idea behind the service is summarized as follows:
- The user who wants to send a large file logs in to the service page.
- On this page it states the recipient’s email, uploads the large file (eg 1GB) it wants to send and sets a time period during which the file will be available.
- The system sends an email to the recipient with a link to download the file uploaded earlier.
- For the period of time initially set by the user the file will remain available for download. When the time expires, the file is deleted.
