Course Tutors
The aim of this postgraduate course is for students to acquire specialized knowledge on a range of issues concerning equal access to education and social inclusion for individuals with disabilities and/or special educational needs.
At the level of knowledge, upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
- Understand the main models of disability and their applications in pedagogical practice.
- Identify the key characteristics and fundamental principles of educational and social inclusion, through the lens of the social model of diversity.
- Possess knowledge regarding the design and implementation of inclusive educational and social policies, both at national and international levels.
- Have the necessary knowledge to create inclusive school environments.
- Be familiar with a range of good collaborative practices that can be developed to support inclusion at all levels of the school community (student collaboration, teacher collaboration, school–family collaboration, etc.).
- Have acquired specialized knowledge on issues related to assessment, pedagogy, and the design of inclusive educational interventions.
- Be familiar with issues related to social inclusion and counseling support for students with disabilities and/or special educational needs.
At the level of skills, upon completion of the course units, students will be able to:
- Organize specialized and inclusive learning environments.
- Utilize existing support structures for the benefit of their students.
- Recognize learning barriers and contribute to their removal.
- Apply in pedagogical practice the main research findings from the field of Disability Studies.
At the level of attitudes, upon completion of the course units, students will be able to:
- Adopt inclusive attitudes and perceptions, particularly concerning students with disabilities as well as the entire school community.
- Recognize learner diversity as a source of enrichment for pedagogical practice.

- Disability & Education: Theoretical framework.
- Educational inclusion of students with disabilities and/or special educational needs: Issues of educational policy and practice.
- Creating inclusive school environments: Basic principles and applications.
- Collaborative practices and the inclusion of students with disabilities and/or special educational needs.
- Issues of assessment and pedagogy – Design of inclusive pedagogical interventions.
- Social inclusion – Counseling for students with disabilities and/or special educational needs.
