Research Fellow
Dr. Ioannis Stamatiou is a Research Fellow at the University of West Attica. He is a graduate of the Department of Mathematics (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens), a graduate of the Department of Economics and Management Engineering (University of the Aegean), holder of a master’s degree specializing in Statistics and Operational Research (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens) and holder of a PhD in Applied Mathematics ( University of the Aegean).
He has taught courses, mainly of mathematical content, at undergraduate and postgraduate level in the following subjects (Biostatistics, Quantitative Methods, Financial Mathematics, Numerical Analysis, Actuarial Mathematics, Mathematical Analysis and Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Probability Theory and Statistics, Stochastic Processes) in various institutions of higher education (University of the Aegean, Alexander Technological Institute of Thessaloniki, Open University of Cyprus, University of Western Attica, Athens University of Economics and Business).
His research interests concern the numerical solution of (non-linear) stochastic differential equations with applications in various fields of applied mathematics (such as bio-mathematics, Finance). The numerical experiments he performs are mainly carried out with the programming tool MATLAB, but also with other computational tools such as Maple software and the R language. In the context of statistical studies, he handles SPSS.
His research papers have been published in international scientific journals (with blind-review process) and he has presented his research work abroad (Antwerp, Eindhoven, Linz, Montenegro, Budapest). Furthermore, he is a reviewer for the Journal of Computational and Applied Mathematics (in which he has even been awarded as an outstanding reviewer), the Journal of Mathematical Finance, the Journal of Mathematical Finance, Applied Numerical Mathematics, Mathematics and Computers in Simulation, Mathematical Reviews, Mathematics και Numerical Algorithms.
